Peter Cooper Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CADE FGFG BHBH

Give honor and love for evermoreA
To this great man gone to restB
Peace on the dim Plutonian shoreA
Rest in the land of the blestB
-
I reckon him greater than any manC
That ever drew sword in warA
I reckon him nobler than king or khanD
Braver and better by farE
-
And wisest he in this whole wide landF
Of hoarding till bent and grayG
For all you can hold in your cold dead handF
Is what you have given awayG
-
So whether to wander the stars or to restB
Forever hushed and dumbH
He gave with a zest and he gave his bestB
Give him the best to comeH
