You will come my bird BonitaA
Come For I by steep and stoneB
Have built such nest for you JuanitaA
As not eagle bird hath knownB
-
Rugged Rugged as ParnassusC
Rude as all roads I have trodD
Yet are steeps and stone strewn passesE
Smooth o'erhead and nearest GodD
-
Here black thunders of my ca ntilde onF
Shake its walls in Titan warsG
Here white sea born clouds companionH
With such peaks as know the starsI
-
Here madrona manzanitaD
Here the snarling chaparralJ
House and hang o'er steeps JuanitaD
Where the gaunt wolf loved to dwellK
-
Dear I took these trackless massesE
Fresh from Him who fashioned themL
Wrought in rock and hewed fair passesE
Flower set as sets a gemL
-
Aye I built in woe God willed itD
Woe that passeth ghosts of guiltD
Yet I built as His birds buildedD
Builded singing as I builtD
-
All is finished Roads of flowersM
Wait your loyal little feetD
All completed Nay the hoursM
Till you come are incompleteD
-
Steep below me lies the valleyN
Deep below me lies the townO
Where great sea ships ride and rallyN
And the world walks up and downO
-
O the sea of lights far streamingP
When the thousand flags are furledD
When the gleaming bay lies dreamingP
As it duplicates the worldD
-
You will come my dearest truestD
Come my sovereign queen of tenQ
My blue skies will then be bluestD
My white rose be whitest thenQ
-
Then the song Ah then the sabreR
Flashing up the walls of nightD
Hate of wrong and love of neighborR
Rhymes of battle for the RightD
