By The Pacific Ocean Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADD EFFEGG HAAHDD

Here room and kingly silence keepA
Companionship in state austereB
The dignity of death is hereC
The large lone vastness of the deepA
Here toil has pitched his camp to restD
The west is banked against the westD
-
Above yon gleaming skies of goldE
One lone imperial peak is seenF
While gathered at his feet in greenF
Ten thousand foresters are toldE
And all so still so still the airG
That duty drops the web of careG
-
Beneath the sunset's golden sheavesH
The awful deep walks with the deepA
Where silent sea doves slip and sweepA
And commerce keeps her loom and weavesH
The dead red men refuse to restD
Their ghosts illume my lurid WestD
