Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDBlack reapers with the sound of steel on stones | A |
Are sharpening scythes I see them place the hones | A |
In their hip pockets as a thing that's done | B |
And start their silent swinging one by one | B |
Black horses drive a mower through the weeds | C |
And there a field rat startled squealing bleeds | C |
His belly close to ground I see the blade | D |
Blood stained continue cutting weeds and shade | D |
