November Cotton Flower Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFGHH

Boll weevil's coming and the winter's coldA
Made cotton stalks look rusty seasons oldA
And cotton scarce as any southern snowB
Was vanishing the branch so pinched and slowB
Failed in its function as the autumn rakeC
Drouth fighting soil had caused the soil to takeC
All water from the streams dead birds were foundD
In wells a hundred feet below the groundD
Such was the season when the flower bloomedE
Old folks were startled and it soon assumedE
Significance Superstition sawF
Something it had never seen beforeG
Brown eyes that loved without a trace of fearH
Beauty so sudden for that time of yearH
