Would I, To Save My Dear Child? (hymn) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCBC DCDC ECEC FCFC FCFC

Thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyselfA
-
Would I to save my dear child dutifulB
Dare the white breakers on a storm rent shoreC
Ay truly Thou all good all beautifulB
Truly I would then truly Thou would'st moreC
-
Would I for my poor son who desolateD
After long sinning sued without my doorC
For pardon open it Ay fortunateD
To hear such prayer I would Lord Thou would'st moreC
-
Would I for e'en the stranger's wearinessE
And want divide albeit 'twere scant my storeC
Ay and mine enemy sick shelterlessE
Dying I would attend O Lord Thou moreC
-
In dust and ashes my long infamyF
Of unbelief I rue My love beforeC
Thy love I set my heart's discoveryF
Is sweet whate'er I would Thou wouldest moreC
-
I was Thy shelterless sick enemyF
And Thou didst die for me yet heretoforeC
I have fear'd now learn I love's supremacyF
Whate'er is known of love Thou lovest moreC
