Work Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDECDE

Like coral insects multitudinousA
The minutes are whereof our life is madeB
They build it up as in the deep's blue shadeB
It grows it comes to light and then and thusA
For both there is an end The populousA
Sea blossoms close our minutes that have paidB
Life's debt of work are spent the work is laidB
Before our feet that shall come after usA
We may not stay to watch if it will speedC
The bard if on some luter's string his songD
Live sweetly yet the hero if his starE
Doth shine Work is its own best earthly meedC
Else have we none more than the sea born throngD
Who wrought those marvellous isles that bloom afarE
