Thick Orchards All In White. (hymn) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCDDC EEFGGF HHFII JJKLLK MMNOON

The time of the singing of birds is comeA
-
Thick orchards all in whiteB
Stand 'neath blue voids of lightB
And birds among the branches blithely singC
For they have all they knowD
There is no more but soD
All perfectness of living fair delight of springC
-
Only the cushat doveE
Makes answer as for loveE
To the deep yearning of man's yearning breastF
And mourneth to his thoughtG
As in her notes were wroughtG
Fulfill'd in her sweet having sense of his unrestF
-
Not with possession notH
With fairest earthly lotH
Cometh the peace assured his spirit's questF
With much it looks beforeI
With most it yearns for moreI
And 'this is not our rest ' and 'this is not our rest '-
-
Give Thou us more We lookJ
For more The heart that tookJ
All spring time for itself were empty stillK
Its yearning is not spentL
Nor silenced in contentL
Till He that all things filleth doth it sweetly fillK
-
Give us Thyself The MayM
Dureth so short a dayM
Youth and the spring are over all too soonN
Content us while they lastO
Console us for them pastO
Thou with whom bides for ever life and love and noonN
