Song Of The Going Away Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Old man upon the green hillsideA
With yellow flowers besprinkled o'erB
How long in silence wilt thou bideA
At this low stone doorC
-
I stoop within 'tis dark and stillD
But shadowy paths methinks there beE
And lead they far into the hillD
Traveller come and seeE
-
'Tis dark 'tis cold and hung with gloomF
I care not now within to stayG
For thee and me is scarcely roomF
I will hence awayG
-
Not so not so thou youthful guestH
Thy foot shall issue forth no moreC
Behold the chamber of thy restH
And the closing doorC
-
O have I 'scaped the whistling ballI
And striven on smoky fields of fightJ
And scaled the 'leaguered city's wallI
In the dangerous nightJ
-
And borne my life unharm d stillD
Through foaming gulfs of yeasty sprayG
To yield it on a grassy hillD
At the noon of dayG
-
Peace Say thy prayers and go to sleepK
Till some time ONE my seal shall breakL
And deep shall answer unto deepK
When He crieth 'AWAKE '-
