Seven Times Three. Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDB AEAEFFE AGAGHHG AI AIJJI

I leaned out of window I smelt the white cloverA
Dark dark was the garden I saw not the gateB
Now if there be footsteps he comes my one loverA
Hush nightingale hush O sweet nightingale waitB
Till I listen and hearC
If a step draweth nearD
For my love he is lateB
-
The skies in the darkness stoop nearer and nearerA
A cluster of stars hangs like fruit in the treeE
The fall of the water comes sweeter comes clearerA
To what art thou listening and what dost thou seeE
Let the star clusters glowF
Let the sweet waters flowF
And cross quickly to meE
-
You night moths that hover where honey brims overA
From sycamore blossoms or settle or sleepG
You glowworms shine out and the pathway discoverA
To him that comes darkling along the rough steepG
Ah my sailor make hasteH
For the time runs to wasteH
And my love lieth deepG
-
Too deep for swift telling and yet my one loverA
I've conned thee an answer it waits thee to nightI
-
By the sycamore passed he and through the white cloverA
Then all the sweet speech I had fashioned took flightI
But I'll love him more moreJ
Than e'er wife loved beforeJ
Be the days dark or brightI
