On The Borders Of Cannock Chase Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEFDEF

A cottager leaned whispering by her hivesA
Telling the bees some news as they lit downB
And entered one by one their waxen townB
Larks passioning hung o'er their brooding wivesA
And all the sunny hills where heather thrivesA
Lay satisfied with peace A stately crownB
Of trees enringed the upper headland brownB
And reedy pools wherein the moor hen divesA
Glittered and gleamedC
A resting place for lightD
They that were bred here love it but they sayE
We shall not have it long in three years' timeF
A hundred pits will cast out fires by nightD
Down yon still glen their smoke shall trail its wayE
And the white ash lie thick in lieu of rimeF
