On A Picture Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF

As a forlorn soul waiting by the StyxA
Dimly expectant of lands yet more dimB
Might peer afraid where shadows change and mixA
Till the dark ferryman shall come for himB
-
And past all hope a long ray in his sightC
Fall'n trickling down the steep crag Hades blackD
Reveals an upward path to life and lightC
Nor any let but he should mount that trackD
-
As with the sudden shock of joy amazedE
He might a motionless sweet moment standF
So doth that mortal lover silent dazedE
For hope had died and loss was near at handF
-
'Wilt thou ' his quest Unready but for 'Nay '-
He stands at fault for joy she whispering 'Ay '-
