Give Us Love And Give Us Peace Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCB ADCCD ABCCB

One morning oh so early my beloved my belovedA
All the birds were singing blithely as if never they would ceaseB
'Twas a thrush sang in my garden Hear the story hear the storyC
And the lark sang Give us gloryC
And the dove said Give us peaceB
-
Then I listened oh so early my beloved my belovedA
To that murmur from the woodland of the dove my dear the doveD
When the nightingale came after Give us fame to sweeten dutyC
When the wren sang Give us beautyC
She made answer Give us loveD
-
Sweet is spring and sweet the morning my beloved my belovedA
Now for us doth spring doth morning wait upon the year's increaseB
And my prayer goes up Oh give us crowned in youth with marriage gloryC
Give for all our life's dear storyC
Give us love and give us peaceB
