A Morn Of Guilt, An Hour Of Doom. (hymn) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

There was darknessA
-
A Morn of guilt an hour of doomB
Shocks and tremblings dreadC
All the city sunk in gloomB
Thick darkness overheadC
An awful Sufferer straight and starkD
Mocking voices fellE
Tremblings tremblings in the darkD
In heaven and earth and hellE
-
Groping stumbling up the wayF
They pass whom Christ forgaveG
They know not what they do they sayF
Himself He cannot saveG
On His head behold the crownH
That alien hands did weaveI
Let Him come down let Him come downH
And we will believeI
-
Fearsome dreams a rending veilJ
Cloven rocks down hurl'dK
God's love itself doth seem to failJ
The Saviour of the worldK
Dying thieves do curse and wailJ
Either side is scornL
Lo He hangs while some cry HailJ
Of heaven and earth forlornL
-
Still o'er His passion darkness lowersM
He nears the deathly goalN
But He shall see in His last hoursM
Of the travail of His soulN
Lo a cry the firstfruits givenO
On the accurs d treeP
Dying Love of God in heavenO
Lord remember meP
-
By His sacrifice foreknownO
Long ages ere that dayF
And by God's sparing of His ownO
Our debt of death to payF
By the Comforter's consentQ
With ardent flames bestow'dR
In this dear race when Jesus wentQ
To make His mean abodeR
-
By the pangs God look'd not onO
And the world dared not seeP
By all redeeming wonders wonO
Through that dread mysteryP
Lord receive once more the sighS
From the accurs d treeP
Sacred Love of God most highS
O remember meP
