Jupiter And The Farmer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BBCDEEFFGGHHIFFIFF JKKJLLMMFFNNININOO

A
-
Of yore a farm had Jupiter to rentB
To advertise it Mercury was sentB
The farmers far and nearC
Flock'd round the terms to hearD
And calling to their aidE
The various tricks of tradeE
One said 'twas rash a farm to hireF
Which would so much expense requireF
Another that do what you wouldG
The farm would still be far from goodG
While thus in market style its faults were toldH
One of the crowd less wise than boldH
Would give so much on this conditionI
That Jove would yield him altogetherF
The choice and making of his weatherF
That instantly on his decisionI
His various crops should feel the powerF
Of heat or cold of sun or showerF
-
Jove yields The bargain closed our manJ
Rains blows and takes the careK
Of all the changes of the airK
On his peculiar private planJ
His nearest neighbours felt it notL
And all the better was their lotL
Their year was good by grace divineM
The grain was rich and full the vineM
The renter failing altogetherF
The next year made quite different weatherF
And yet the fruit of all his laboursN
Was far inferior to his neighbours'N
What better could he do To HeavenI
He owns at last his want of senseN
And so is graciously forgivenI
Hence we conclude that ProvidenceN
Knows better what we needO
Than we ourselves indeedO
