When Paganini Plays Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDCCCD EF GBGGB HIHHJ EF

Dawn laughs the bow and we straight see the skyA
Crimson and golden and grayB
See the rosy cloudlets go drifting byA
And the sheen on the lark as soaring highA
He carols to greet the dayB
-
Fast moves the bow o'er the wonderful stringsC
We feel the joy in the airD
'Tis alive with the glory of growing thingsC
With wild honeysuckle that creeps and clingsC
Rose of the briar bush queen of the springsC
Anemones frail and fairD
-
We listen and whisper with laughter lowE
It voices rare gladness that ancient bowF
-
Then sad as the plaint of a child at nightG
A child aweary with playB
The falling of shadows a lost delightG
The moaning of watchers counting the flightG
Of hours 'twixt the dark and dayB
-
It echoes the cry of a broken heartH
It grieves o'er a might have beenI
It holds all the passionate tears that startH
When our heaven and our earth drift far apartH
And the way lies dark betweenJ
-
It stills all our laughter and whispers lowE
'Tis heart strings it plays on that ancient bowF
