The Passage Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF

O soul on God's high seas the way is strange and longA
Yet fling your pennons out and spread your canvas strongA
For though to mortal eyes so small a craft you seemB
The highest star in heaven cloth lend you guiding gleamB
-
O soul on God's high seas look to your course with careC
Fear most when winds are kind and skies are blue and fairC
Your helm must sway at touch of no hand save your ownD
The soul that sails on God's high seas must sail aloneD
-
O soul on God's high seas sail on with steady aimE
Unmoved by winds of praise untouched by seas of blameE
Beyond the lonely ways beyond the guiding starF
There stretches out the strand and golden harbor barF
