The Lake Shore Road Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEFE GHIBJB KLMNOM PQRBR

'Tis noon the meadow stretches in the sunA
And every little spear of grass uplifts its slimness to the glowB
To let the heavy laden bees pass outC
-
A stream comes at a snail's pace through the gloomD
Of shrub and fern and brakeE
Leaps o'er a wall goes singing on to findF
The coolness of the lakeE
-
A wild rose spreads her greenness on a hedgeG
And flings her tinted blossoms in the airH
The sweetbriar neighbors with that porcupineI
Of shrubs the gooseberry with parasolB
Of white the elderberry shades her headJ
And dreams of purple fruit and wine press chillB
-
From off her four warm eggs of mottled shadeK
A bird flies with a call of love and joyL
That wins an answer straightM
From that brown thing of gladness on a boughN
Too slight to hold him and his weight of songO
The proud and watchful mateM
-
The wind comes heavy freighted from the woodP
With jasmine honeysuckle iris phloxQ
And lilies red and whiteR
The blue lake murmurs and the world seems allB
A garden of delightR
