The Emigrant Laddie Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDCCB EEFGGGGH II

Though long long leagues of land and seaA
Stretch out between Braemar and meA
I'll win home late or soonB
Will take the old familiar wayC
Past Isla Glen up bold GlensheeD
By sun kissed hill and valley grayC
These feet of mine will find their wayC
At midnight or at noonB
-
The hearth fire and the cot of stoneE
Set 'mong the fir trees tall and loneE
I'll see before my eyesF
Hear rough winds kiss the heath clad hillG
The murmur gay of loch and rillG
The mavis singing sweet and shrillG
Hear warm and soft as notes that thrillG
The souls in paradiseH
-
A voice all tremulous and gladI
Cries out A welcome home my ladI
