Happy The Lab'rer Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBBBCBBBBD

Happy the lab'rer in his Sunday clothesA
In light drab coat smart waistcoat well darn'd hoseB
Andhat upon his head to church he goesB
As oft with conscious pride he downward throwsB
A glance upon the ample cabbage roseB
That stuck in button hole regales his noseB
He envies not the gayest London beauxC
In church he takes his seat among the rowsB
Pays to the place the reverence he owesB
Likes best the prayers whose meaning least he knowsB
Lists to the sermon in a softening dozeB
And rouses joyous at the welcome closeD
