Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFF GGThou hast made all the house an empty thing | A |
Dear Ursula by this thy vanishing | A |
Though we are here 'tis yet a vacant place | B |
One little soul had filled so great a space | B |
For thou didst sing thy joyousness to all | C |
Running through every nook of house and hall | C |
Thou wouldst not have thy mother grieve nor let | D |
Thy father with too solemn thinking fret | D |
His head but thou must kiss them daughter mine | E |
And all with that entrancing laugh of thine | E |
Now on the house has fallen a dumb blight | F |
Thou wilt not come with archness and delight | F |
- | |
But every corner lodges lurking grief | G |
And all in vain the heart would seek relief | G |
