When She Comes Home Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAAAAAADADAA

When she comes home again A thousand waysA
I fashion to myself the tendernessB
Of my glad welcome I shall tremble yesC
And touch her as when first in the old daysA
I touched her girlish hand nor dared upraiseA
Mine eyes such was my faint heart's sweet distressA
Then silence And the perfume of her dressA
The room will sway a little and a hazeA
Cloy eyesight soulsight even for a spaceA
And tears yes and the ache here in the throatD
To know that I so ill deserve the placeA
Her arms make for me and the sobbing noteD
I stay with kisses ere the tearful faceA
Again is hidden in the old embraceA
