When Age comes onA
'The deepening dusk is where the dawnB
Once glittered splendid and the dewC
In honey drips from red rose lipsD
Was kissed away by me and youC
And now across the frosty lawnB
Black foot prints trail and Age comes onA
And Age comes onA
And biting wild winds whistle throughC
Our tattered hopes and Age comes onA
-
When Age comes onA
O tide of raptures long withdrawnB
Flow back in summer floods and flingE
Here at our feet our childhood sweetF
And all the songs we used to singE
Old loves old friends all dead and goneB
Our old faith lost and Age comes onA
And Age comes onA
Poor hearts have we not anythingE
But longings left when Age comes onA
-
ENVOYG
-
Just as of old The world rolls on and onA
The day dies into night night into dawnB
Dawn into dusk through centuries untoldH
Just as of oldH
-
Time loiters not The river ever flowsI
Its brink or white with blossoms or with snowsI
Its tide or warm with Spring or Winter coldH
Just as of oldH
-
Lo where is the beginning where the endJ
Of living loving longing Listen friendJ
God answers with a silence of pure goldH
Just as of oldH
