The Rainy Morning Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBBDED FGFGBBHB FAFAIBJB

The dawn of the day was drearyA
And the lowering clouds o'erheadB
Wept in a silent sorrowC
Where the sweet sunshine lay deadB
And a wind came out of the eastwardB
Like an endless sigh of painD
And the leaves fell down in the pathwayE
And writhed in the falling rainD
-
I had tried in a brave endeavorF
To chord my harp with the sunG
But the strings would slacken everF
And the task was a weary oneG
And so like a child impatientB
And sick of a discontentB
I bowed in a shower of tear dropsH
And mourned with the instrumentB
-
And lo as I bowed the splendorF
Of the sun bent over meA
With a touch as warm and tenderF
As a father's hand might beA
And even as I felt its presenceI
My clouded soul grew brightB
And the tears like the rain of morningJ
Melted in mists of lightB
