Plain Sermons Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF FGFB

I saw a man and envied him besideA
Because of this world's goods he had great storeB
But even as I envied him he diedA
And left me envious of him no moreB
-
I saw another man and envied stillC
Because he was content with frugal lotD
But as I envied him the rich man's willC
Bequeathed him all and envy I forgotD
-
Yet still another man I saw and heE
I envied for a calm and tranquil mindF
That nothing fretted in the least degreeE
Until alas I found that he was blindF
-
What vanity is envy for I findF
I have been rich in dross of thought and poorG
In that I was a fool and lastly blindF
For never having seen myself beforeB
