THE WAR CRY OF BILLY AND BUDDYA
-
-
When two little boys renowned but for noiseB
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
May hurt a whole school and the head it employsB
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
Such loud and hilarious pupils indeedC
Need learning and yet something further they needC
Though fond hearts that love them may sorrow and bleedC
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
-
O the schoolmarm was cool and in no wise a foolD
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
And in ruling her ranks it was her rule to ruleD
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
So when these two pupils conspired every dayE
Some mad piece of mischief with whoop and hoo rayE
That hurt yet defied her how happy were theyE
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
-
At the ring of the bell they 'd rush in with a yellF
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
And they'd bang the school door till the plastering fellF
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
They'd clinch as they came and pretend not to seeA
As they knocked her desk over then My and O meA
How awfully sorry they'd both seem to beA
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
-
This trick seemed so neat and so safe a conceitG
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
They played it three times though the third they were beatG
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
For the teacher she righted her desk raised the lidH
And folded and packed away each little kidH
Closed the incident so yes and locked it she didH
Hik tee dik Billy and BuddyA
