With a sweeter voice than birdsA
Dare to twitter in their sleepB
Pipe for me a tune of wordsA
Till my dancing fancies leapB
Into freedom vaster farC
Than the realms of Reason areC
Sing for me with wilder fireD
Than the lover ever sungE
From the time he twanged the lyreF
When the world was baby youngE
-
O my maiden Autumn youG
You have filled me through and throughG
With a passion so intenseH
All of earthly eloquenceI
Fails and falls and swoons awayJ
In your presence Like as oneK
Who essays to look the sunK
Fairly in the face I sayJ
Though my eyes you dazzle blindL
Greater dazzled is my mindL
So my Autumn let me kneelM
At your feet and worship youG
Be my sweetheart let me feelM
Your caress and tell me tooG
Why your smiles bewilder meN
Glancing into laughter thenO
Trancing into calm againO
Till your meaning drowning liesP
In the dim depths of your eyesP
Let me see the things you seeN
Down the depths of mysteryN
Blow aside the hazy veilQ
From the daylight of your faceR
With the fragrance ladened galeQ
Of your spicy breath and chaseR
Every dimple to its placeR
Lift your gipsy finger tipsS
To the roses of your lipsS
And fling down to me a budT
But an unblown kiss but oneK
It shall blossom in my bloodT
Even after life is doneK
When I dare to touch the browU
Your rare hair is veiling nowU
When the rich red golden strandsV
Of the treasure in my handsV
Shall be all of worldly worthW
Heaven lifted from the earthW
Like a banner to have setX
On its highest minaretX
