A Prospective Visit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFFGGH IIJJKKLLDDMNOPQ RRSSTT

While any day was notable and dearA
That gave the children Noey history hereB
Records his advent emphasized indeedC
With sharp italics as he came to feedC
The stock one special morning fair and brightD
When Johnty and Bud met him with delightD
Unusual even as their extra dressE
Garbed as for holiday with much excessE
Of proud self consciousness and vain conceitF
In their new finery Far up the streetF
They called to Noey as he came that theyG
As promised both were going back that dayG
To his house with himH
-
And by time that eachI
Had one of Noey's hands ceasing their speechI
And coyly anxious in their new attireJ
To wake the comment of their mute desireJ
Noey seemed rendered voiceless Quite a whileK
They watched him furtively He seemed to smileK
As though he would conceal it and they sawL
Him look away and his lips purse and drawL
In curious twitching spasms as though he mightD
Be whispering while in his eye the whiteD
Predominated strangely Then the spellM
Gave way and his pent speech burst audibleN
'They wuz two stylish little boysO
and they wuz mighty bold onesP
Had two new pairs o' britches madeQ
out o' their daddy's old ones '-
And at the inspirational outbreakR
Both joker and his victims seemed to takeR
An equal share of laughter and all throughS
Their morning visit kept recurring toS
The funny words and jingle of the rhymeT
That just kept getting funnier all the timeT
