Prayer At Sunrise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDDD AAEEFFGG

O mighty powerful dark dispelling sunA
Now thou art risen and thy day begunA
How shrink the shrouding mists before thy faceB
As up thou spring'st to thy diurnal raceB
How darkness chases darkness to the westC
As shades of light on light rise radiant from thy crestC
For thee great source of strength emblem of mightD
In hours of darkest gloom there is no nightD
Thou shinest on though clouds hide thee from sightD
And through each break thou sendest down thy lightD
-
O greater Maker of this Thy great sunA
Give me the strength this one day's race to runA
Fill me with light fill me with sun like strengthE
Fill me with joy to rob the day its lengthE
Light from within light that will outward shineF
Strength to make strong some weaker heart than mineF
Joy to make glad each soul that feels its touchG
Great Father of the sun I ask this muchG
