From The German Of Uhland Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA AA BC DD EE FF GH CB II JK

Three students once tarried over the RhineA
And into Frau Wirthin's turned to dineA
-
Say hostess have you good beer and wineA
And where is that pretty daughter of thineA
-
My beer and wine is fresh and clearB
My daughter lies on her funeral bierC
-
They softly tipped into the roomD
She lay there in the silent gloomD
-
The first the white cloth gently raisedE
And tearfully upon her gazedE
-
If thou wert alive O lovely maidF
My heart at thy feet would to day be laidF
-
The second covered her face againG
And turned away with grief and painH
-
Ah thou upon thy snow white bierC
And I have loved thee so many a yearB
-
The third drew back again the veilI
And kissed the lips so cold and paleI
-
I've loved thee always I love thee to dayJ
And will love thee yes forever and ayeK
