Westland Row Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCD EEFFGD HHIIJJ

Every Sunday there's a throngA
Of pretty girls who trot alongA
In a pious breathless stateB
They are nearly always lateB
To the Chapel where they prayC
For the sins of SaturdayD
-
They have frocks of white and blueE
Yellow sashes they have tooE
And red ribbons show each headF
Tenderly is ringletedF
And the bell rings loud and theG
Railway whistles urgentlyD
-
After Chapel they will goH
Walking delicately slowH
Telling still how Father JohnI
Is so good to look uponI
And such other grave affairsJ
As they thought of during prayersJ
