The Geraldine's Cloak Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF AFAG

I will not heed the message which you bringA
That lovely lady gave her cloak to usB
And who'd believe she'd give away a thingA
And ask it back again 'tis fabulousB
-
My parting from her gave me cause to grieveC
For she that I was poor had misty eyesD
If some Archangel blew it I'd believeC
The message which you bring not otherwiseD
-
I do not say this just to make a jokeE
Nor would I rob her but 'tis verityF
So long as I could swagger in a cloakE
I never cared how bad my luck could beF
-
That lady all perfection knows the stingA
Of poverty was thrust deep into meF
I don't believe she'd do this kind of thingA
Or treat a poet less than daintilyG
