The Appointment (the Adventures Of Seumas Beg) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCB DEDEFFE GHGHIIH JKJKLLK MNMNOON

Tree you are years standing thereA
Gripping tight to the side of the hillB
And your branches are spread on the airA
While you stand so sad and so stillB
And you do not complainC
When you're wet with the rainC
Though I think you have often been illB
-
I would like but it could not be doneD
So you must not keep me to my wordE
To take you away when the sunD
Goes down and the breezes are stirredE
And hug you in bedF
With myself till you saidF
That to sleep on a hill was absurdE
-
O beautiful tree when the nightG
Is dark and the winds come and scoldH
I would love then to cuddle you tightG
For I fear you will die of the coldH
But you are so tallI
And my bed is so smallI
That it could not be done I am toldH
-
My mother is calling for meJ
And the baby is wanting to playK
I shall have to go home now you seeJ
But I'll give you a kiss if I mayK
I would stay if I couldL
But a child must be goodL
So I must darling tree go awayK
-
I will leave you my pencil and slateM
And this little pin from my frockN
But now I must go for it's lateM
And my mother is rattling the lockN
So good bye darling dearO
I'll come back never fearO
In the morning at seven o'clockN
