Behind The Hill (the Adventures Of Seumas Beg) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG

Behind the hill I met a man in greenA
Who asked me if my mother had gone outB
I said she had He asked me had I seenA
His castle where the people sing and shoutB
From dawn to dark and told me that he hadC
A crock of gold inside a hollow treeD
And I could have it I wanted money badC
To buy a sword with and I thought that heD
Would keep his solemn word so off we wentE
He said he had a pound hid in the crockF
And owned the castle too and paid no rentE
To any one and that you had to knockF
Five hundred times I asked Who reckoned upG
And he said You insulting little pupG
