Marginal Note Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHI

A ray of light to an oblique observerA
Remains invisible in pure dry airB
But shone into a turbid elementC
It throws distracting side gleams everywhereB
-
And is diminished by what takes the eyeD
So poetry that moves by chance collisionE
Scatters its brightness at each random moteF
And mars the lucid order of its visionE
-
The purest meditation will appearG
Faint or invisible to those who glanceH
Obliquely at its unreflected beamI
