The Malefactor's Plea Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD BEBE FGFG HGHG IGIG JEJE GGGG

Of sentences that stir my bileA
Of phrases I detestB
There's one beyond all others vileA
He did it for the bestB
-
Of course he did I don't supposeC
Nor can you think I shouldD
The man's among my deadliest foesC
Or is not fairly goodD
-
Of course he did it for the bestB
What should he do it forE
But did he do it that's the testB
I ask to know no moreE
-
Alas he did and here am IF
Quite ruined half disgracedG
And you can really ask me whyF
My wrath is not effacedG
-
And there is he good worthy manH
With self esteem possessedG
Still saying as of course he canH
I did it for the bestG
-
No evil deed was ever doneI
Or honest man withstoodG
Since first this weary world begunI
Except for someone's goodG
-
And can it signify to meJ
Whose good he did it forE
Mine was it thus 'twas wont to beJ
And will be ever moreE
-
When inoffensive people plantG
A dagger in your breastG
Your good is what they really wantG
They do it for the bestG
