Drinking Song Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL

There are people I know to be foundA
Who say and apparently thinkB
That sorrow and care may be drownedA
By a timely consumption of drinkB
-
Does not man these enthusiasts askC
Most nearly approach the divineD
When engaged in the soul stirring taskC
Of filling his body with wineD
-
Have not beggars been frequently knownE
When satisfied soaked and repleteF
To imagine their bench was a throneE
And the civilised world at their feetF
-
Lord Byron has finely describedG
The remarkably soothing effectH
Of liquor profusely imbibedG
On a soul that is shattered and wreckedH
-
In short if your body or mindI
Or your soul or your purse come to griefJ
You need only get drunk and you'll findI
Complete and immediate reliefJ
-
For myself I have managed to doK
Without having recourse to this planL
So I can't write a poem for youK
And you'd better get someone who canL
