The Father's Lament Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDBEB FGGGHBEB IJIJGBEB

How can you bid this heart be blitheA
When blithe this heart can never beB
I've lost the jewel from my crownC
Look round our circle and you'll seeB
That there is ane out o' the ringD
Who never can forgotten beB
Ay there's a blank at my right handE
That ne'er can be made up to meB
-
'Tis said as water wears the rockF
That time wears out the deepest lineG
It may be true wi' hearts enowG
But never can apply to mineG
For I have learn'd to know and feelH
Though losses should forgotten beB
That still the blank at my right handE
Can never be made up to meB
-
I blame not Providence's swayI
For I have many joys besideJ
And fain would I in grateful wayI
Enjoy the same whate'er betideJ
A mortal thing should ne'er repineG
But stoop to supreme decreeB
Yet oh the blank at my right handE
Can never be made up to meB
