Caledonia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHGHIEJE FKFLMNMN

Caledonia thou land of the mountain and rockA
Of the ocean the mist and the windB
Thou land of the torrent the pine and the oakC
Of the roebuck the hart and the hindB
Though bare are thy cliffs and though barren thy glensD
Though bleak thy dun islands appearE
Yet kind are the hearts and undaunted the clansF
That roam on these mountains so drearE
-
A foe from abroad or a tyrant at homeG
Could never thy ardour restrainH
The marshall'd array of imperial RomeG
Essay'd thy proud spirit in vainH
Firm seat of religion of valour of truthI
Of genius unshackled and freeE
The muses have left all the vales of the southJ
My loved Caledonia for theeE
-
Sweet land of the bay and wild winding deepsF
Where loveliness slumbers at evenK
While far in the depth of the blue water sleepsF
A calm little motionless heavenL
Thou land of the valley the moor and the hillM
Of the storm and the proud rolling waveN
Yes thou art the land of fair liberty stillM
And the land of my forefathers' graveN
