The Turn Of The Road Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFGFHHI was playing with my hoop along the road | A |
Just where the bushes are when suddenly | B |
There came a shout I ran away and stowed | A |
Myself beneath a bush and watched to see | B |
What made the noise and then around the bend | C |
I saw a woman running She was old | D |
And wrinkle faced and had big teeth The end | C |
Of her red shawl caught on a bush and rolled | D |
Right off her and her hair fell down Her face | E |
Was awful white and both her eyes looked sick | F |
And she was talking queer 'O God of Grace ' | G |
Said she 'where is the child ' and flew back quick | F |
The way she came and screamed and shook her hands | H |
Maybe she was a witch from foreign lands | H |
