Rhyme Scheme: ABCDDC CCEE CCCFGC HHHH CCEEEE DDII IIDCCD CCCC

There was a little manA
And he wooed a little maidB
And he said Little maid will you wed wed wedC
I have little more to sayD
Then will you ay or nayD
For the least said is soonest mended ded dedC
-
Homunculus eximius puellulam amavitC
Quam ut nubendam duceret sic ore compellavitC
Quid verbis opus pluribus Dic volo dicve noloE
Sat verbum sapientibus responde sine doloE
-
Then the little maid repliedC
Should I be your little brideC
Pray what shall we have for to eat eat eatC
Will the flame that you are rich inF
Make a fire in the kitchenG
Or the little god of love turn the spit spit spitC
-
Responsum dat puellula Si flectar ad nubendumH
Dic qu so quid cibarii habebimus edendumH
Amorem credis ignem in culin servaturumH
Aut parvulum Cupidinem jam veru versaturumH
-
Then the little man repliedC
And they say a little sighedC
For his little heart was big with sorrow sorrow sorrowE
My offers are but smallE
But you have my little allE
And what we haven't got we must borrow borrow borrowE
-
Replicuit homunculus suspiriis convulsusD
Ingenti gritudine cor parvulum perculsusD
Non multa quidem profero sed omnia relinquoI
Et quicquid nobis deerit petemus a propinquoI
-
The little man thus spokeI
His heart was almost brokeI
And all for the sake of her charms charms charmsD
So the little maid relentedC
And softened she consentedC
The little man to take to her arms arms armsD
-
Sic fatur ille lacrymans ex corde desolatoC
Et propter pulchritudinem ad mortem vulneratoC
Mollitur tum puellula amorem et agnovitC
Beatumque homunculum amplexu suo fovitC
