My Picnic With Lolita Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNKCOPQR ST

I brought the cherriesA
I hoped for heart shaped sunglassesB
a lollipop from the movie posterC
I walk to class so weary of hearing them talkD
Poetry isn't literary I quoteE
It doesn't know the parts of speechF
Write what you know I sayG
trying to make it sound newH
She tells me her parents diedI
at a picnic just like thisJ
Lightning she says and I thinkK
Billy Collins beat me to it alreadyL
Lie down she says Take your coat offM
I'll rub your back I did for NabokovN
I do as I am told and thinkK
this is why he invented her and I invited herC
Someday she will wish to be pretty one more timeO
Later at my desk I feel a shooting pain up my armP
a tightness in my chest So this is my deathQ
Here Now With so many papers still to correctR
and wish I could have died at my picnic with LolitaS
by lightning insteadT
