The Path Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGH IJIK LMNOPDQR STUE

Looking at this route todayA
I am thrown off balanceB
Tears welling up in my eyesC
Tears I cannot hold back with easeD
-
He said my son this is the routeE
Follow this route so you can liveF
Here and after Do not die twiceG
Yet this route has wholly changedH
-
It now has many branchesI
Like tributaries of the River NileJ
These newly attained branchesI
I am aware that belong to individualsK
-
The majority now use the branches insteadL
The big route is completely out of tasteM
It's started getting bushy and narrowerN
People despise you when you follow itO
A thing of the past they say it isP
Then you pay highly to follow tributariesD
And become a real man among menQ
All in one single line heading to doomR
-
The right has become wrong and wrong rightS
A route meant to save as I now seeT
Will be the undoing of many soulsU
Alone though I must follow this routeE

Poet's note: I wrote this poem to criticize the religious division and how people have turned religion into a tool of enmity.
