Zion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EBEB FBFB GBGB

She stood a hill ensceptred QueenA
The glory streaming from herB
While Heaven flashed her rays betweenA
And shed eternal summerB
-
The gates of morning opened wideC
On sunny dome and steepleD
Noon gleamed upon the mountain sideC
'Thronged with a happy peopleD
-
And twilight's drowsy half closed eyesE
Beheld that virgin splendourB
Whose orbs were as her darkening skiesE
And as her spirit tenderB
-
Girt with that strength first horn of rightF
Held fast by deeds of honourB
I ler robe she wove with rays more brightF
Than Heaven could rain upon herB
-
Where is that light that citadelG
That robe with woof of gloryB
She lost her virtue and she fellG
And only left her storyB
