Returning, We Hear The Larks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC BDE FGH IJKLMCM

Sombre the night isA
And though we have our lives we knowB
What sinister threat lies thereC
-
Dragging these anguished limbs we only knowB
This poison blasted track opens on our campD
On a little safe sleepE
-
But hark joy joy strange joyF
Lo heights of night ringing with unseen larksG
Music showering our upturned list ning facesH
-
Death could drop from the darkI
As easily as songJ
But song only droppedK
Like a blind man s dreams on the sandL
By dangerous tidesM
Like a girl s dark hair for she dreams no ruin lies thereC
Or her kisses where a serpent hidesM
