The Old Barrel Organ Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEEE FGEG HIJI KLEL MNMG

We almost lost our minds through that mad skyA
It blinds us with its fire or its snowB
And baring teeth like any beast of wildC
Old winter hides in April very slowB
-
No sooner has it fallen into sleepD
That has again its helmet over browsE
And those streams gone into snow deepsE
Cease their song and freeze in deadly silenceE
-
-
But all this is forgotten in the pastF
The garden hums and whitens vibrant stoneG
And rooms look with opened windows eyesE
At dark green grass over the road sownG
-
But only one the barrel organ oldH
Shivers with cold in May of sunset s languorI
Can t ever grind all injuries recalledJ
As it rotates the heedful shaft with angerI
-
This rusty barrel cannot understandK
That all its work is void of any goalL
That any pain of old age extendsE
On every pin and every turn in wholeL
-
But even if it once were to discernM
Its own fate and fate of the street organN
It would not ever cease to sing and turnM
Cause every song is one of pain and moanG
