The Champlain Sandman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEAFGHIJD

The Sandman comes pattering across the BayA
His hair is silverB
His footstep softC
The moon shines on his silver hairD
On his quick feetE
The Sandman comes searching across the BayA
He goes to all the houses he knowsF
To put sand in little girls' eyesG
That is why I go to my sleepy bedH
And why the lake gull leaves the moon aloneI
There are no wings to moonlight any moreJ
Only the Sandman's hairD
