The Evenlode Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEE DEDE BDBD

I will not try to reach againA
I will not set my sail aloneB
To moor a boat bereft of menA
At Yarnton's tiny docks of stoneB
-
But I will sit beside the fireC
And put my hand before my eyesD
And trace to fill my heart's desireC
The last of all our OdysseysD
-
The quiet evening kept her trystE
Beneath an open sky we rodeF
And passed into a wandering mistE
Along the perfect EvenlodeE
-
The tender Evenlode that makesD
Her meadows hush to hear the soundE
Of waters mingling in the brakesD
And binds my heart to English groundE
-
A lovely river all aloneB
She lingers in the hills and holdsD
A hundred little towns of stoneB
Forgotten in the western woldsD
