[month Of] September Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCE FGFGGF

I from a window where the Meuse is wideA
Looked eastward out to the September nightB
The men that in the hopeless battle diedA
Rose and deployed and stationed for the fightB
A brumal army vague and ordered largeC
For mile on mile by some pale generalD
I saw them lean by companies to the chargeC
But no man living heard the bugle callE
-
And fading still and pointing to their scarsF
They fled in lessening clouds where gray and highG
Dawn lay along the heaven in misty barsF
But watching from that eastern casement IG
Saw the Republic splendid in the skyG
And round her terrible head the morning starsF
