The Poet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCADEFGAHGIJBKLMNOP QRSTUVWTRXY

Only on me the lonely oneA
The unending stars of the night shineB
The stone fountain whispers its magic songC
To me alone to me the lonely oneA
The colorful shadows of the wandering cloudsD
Move like dreams over the open countrysideE
Neither house nor farmlandF
Neither forest nor hunting privilege is given to meG
What is mine belongs to no oneA
The plunging brook behind the veil of the woodsH
The frightening seaG
The bird whir of children at playI
The weeping and singing lonely in the evening of a man secretly in loveJ
The temples of the gods are mine also and mineB
the aristocratic groves of the pastK
And no less the luminousL
Vault of heaven in the future is my homeM
Often in full flight of longing my soul storms upwardN
To gaze on the future of blessed menO
Love overcoming the law love from people to peopleP
I find them all again nobly transformedQ
Farmer king tradesman busy sailorsR
Shepherd and gardener all of themS
Gratefully celebrate the festival of the future worldT
Only the poet is missingU
The lonely one who looks onV
The bearer of human longing the pale imageW
Of whom the future the fulfillment of the worldT
Has no further need Many garlandsR
Wilt on his graveX
But no one remembers himY
